When can I start scheduling drives?
Students may begin scheduling driving lessons after completion of the second in-person class. This is a state requirement: there are no exceptions.
How do I schedule driving lessons? How many lessons can I schedule at one time?
Students must have an active portal and must be signed into the portal to schedule driving lessons. Students may have up to two driving lessons scheduled at any given time. Once a student has signed up for a Driver Ed session, instructions will be emailed on how to successfully sign up for a student portal.
How long does it take to complete the Maine driver education program?
The coursework for each session is scheduled over a four-week period, with driving lessons extending after that. The complete driver education course includes 6-hours of classroom, successfully completing the AAA How to Drive Online course and pass the final in-person exam. Students must also complete 10-hours behind-the-wheel instruction.
Does the online course have to be completed within a specific timeframe?
Yes, You must complete the online course prior to taking your scheduled in-person final exam.
What is your program cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel your space in the class, you must provide at least 10 business days' notice prior to the scheduled orientation or your deposit/balance will be forfeited.
What is your driving lesson cancellation policy?
If a student needs to cancel, and reschedule a driving lesson, the student may do so through the Student Portal. Driving lessons must be cancelled at least 24 business hours prior to the driving lesson, otherwise a $50.00 fee may be incurred. The fee must be paid before the next driving lesson, or the next driving lesson may be cancelled..
Do in-car lessons need to be scheduled and completed by a certain date?
Research shows that the best learning experience is when behind-the-wheel training is integrated with the classroom/online learning. You should aim to schedule 2-hours of behind=-the-wheel training a week. Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles requires that a student must resume training within six months if lesson have been paused.
When is my final payment due?
Full payment is required to be received by the school no later than 10 business days prior to the Parent/Student Orientation date for that session.
Does this class give me a discount on my insurance?
Please check with your insurance provider to see if applicable.
Will I get a certificate that day?
Yes, upon successful completion of the course, you will leave with a completion certificate.
If I pass this course, do you let the state know so my license can get reinstated?
No. This is an informational course only.
